Snapdragon Psychology
Compassionate, evidence-based therapy and clinical supervision
Sarah M. Thompson, PhD
I'm a licensed clinical psychologist (PSY 34690) in Los Angeles, California who specializes in providing cognitive behavioral and mindfulness-based therapies for adults (18+) experiencing anxiety, depression, and trauma as well as concerns around relationships, challenges with work or school, and sleep difficulties.
I believe the best care combines expertise in proven, science-backed treatments and an authentic, compassionate therapeutic relationship. As a therapist, I love helping people move toward greater meaning and purpose in their lives.
I primarily utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and I hold specialized training in evidenced-based treatments for trauma, including Cognitive Processing Therapy and Prolonged Exposure. I also work with couples using Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy.
I received my PhD in Clinical Psychology from UCLA as well as a BA in Psychology with Distinction from Yale University. I completed my clinical internship at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System and a postdoctoral fellowship in trauma recovery at the Durham VA Health Care System.

Prior to starting Snapdragon Psychology, I served as an Associate Clinical Professor of Psychology and the Associate Director of the UT Psychological Clinic at the University of Tennessee, where I trained graduate students in clinical and counseling psychology, social work, and mental health counseling. I continue to provide training to mental health providers seeking to develop their skills in evidence-based cognitive behavioral treatments and the practice of clinical supervision.

Services
Individual Therapy
If you are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or hopeless, now is the time to begin taking steps toward the life you want. I provide personalized, evidence-based therapy to adults (18+) facing challenges like stress, anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, and relationship difficulties. I also offer specialized treatments for sleep difficulties and chronic pain. Clients tend to describe my style as warm, authentic, and collaborative and I only utilize modern, research-supported treatments that have been proven to work.
Couple Therapy
While relationships can be one of life's greatest joys, they can also lead to some of our most painful moments. I provide Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy (IBCT) for couples looking to build upon the existing strengths in their relationship and work through points of contention to develop a more workable, connected way of being together. As a couple therapist, my goal is to help you express yourselves effectively, solve challenges that arise in your relationship, and move toward greater connection.
Clinical Supervision and Consultation
Wouldn't it be nice if you could simply read a book or attend a CE and learn to provide evidence-based treatment with fidelity? And yet, all mental health providers know that learning new interventions takes time, dedication, and compassionate guidance. I provide supervision for trainees and consultation for mental health professionals across disciplines who are interested in learning or refining their practice in treatments like ACT, DBT, CBT, CPT, PE, or clinical supervision.
Workshops and Trainings
I really enjoy helping mental health providers across disciplines gain skills to evolve their practice. I conduct workshops and trainings on topics like Evidence-Based Best Practices in Clinical Supervision and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. My trainings are grounded in the evidence base and prioritize experiential, interactive learning, so that you can go beyond simply understanding the basics to being able to implement new skills effectively.
